2010 BenGolf Day Announced

We had an excellent day there last year, with good weather as usual! We raised £10,000 which was absolutely vital for the Benevolent Fund. The golf day is the major contributor to the Fund as without it, we would have had to have refused many requests for help.

The Trustees realise that, in the current economic climate, participation in golf might be one of the first things to be cut. However please remember that in the same climate, requests for help increase as bills rise and income from savings decrease. The Fund is also hit by fluctuating income from our investment portfolio. It is a double whammy! We do hope that we shall get solid support from companies again this year. We would hate to have to curtail our activities.

We are continuing with the same format as last year which can save over 50% of the previous cost for teams. At the end of play, around 5.30pm, we shall have a two course supper in the Clubhouse, followed by the Prize Giving and the Auction. This will finish about 7.30/8.00pm, enabling everyone to leave for home, cutting out the need for an over-night stay. This will save over £500 if you stayed at the Whittlebury Hotel. In addition we are reducing the entry cost again by £100, making the total saving over £600. (A lot more if you were still in the bar at 3am!!)

For those who live further away, there still will be the opportunity to stay, either at the Silverstone Travelodge (at Towcester), where rooms can currently be had at £29 per night, or at the Whittlebury Hotel on site at £135 per night including breakfast. Please book the Travelodge direct (www.travelodge.co.uk) but if you wish to book the Whittlebury Hotel, please DO NOT book with the hotel direct. You will not get the special rate.
